The National Safety and Quality Health Care Standards (National Standards) were developed by the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care to provide a nationally consistent level of care consumers can expect from health services. There are eight standards and the Aged Care Module which health facilities are accredited against. These are:
We are creating information resources to explain the different National Standards. These resources will go on display at Western NSW Local Health District facilities for the community to read when visiting the health service.
We are seeking consumers interested in quality health care to join a Working Group to help in the design of the resources.
What you will do
You will be working with the Leads of each Standard and will be asked to review and share your perspective on the information resources. You will be sharing your ideas on what information should be included in the resource, what would be useful and give feedback on its design.
No experience is necessary, and you can nominate which National Standards you would like to be involved in.
Meeting dates and times will be agreed upon by the Working Group members.
This is an example of a resource you could be providing feedback on.
What's in it for you?
You will be collaborating with health staff and consumers interested in quality health care. Your feedback will help create resources with meaningful information.
As a Consumer Representative you will be remunerated for your time on the Working Group in line with the NSW Health Consumer, Carer and Community Member Remuneration Guideline.
