Project Update - January 2024

The community were invited to provide feedback on planning and design elements of the Palliative Care expansion in Orange through online surveys and in person consultations in November and December 2023.

In total 123 responses were received and the findings will be considered at key decision-making points in the project.

The team is reviewing the feedback and we look forward to sharing the design outcomes that were informed by community feedback in the coming months.

The palliative expansion at Orange is part of the $93 million commitment by the NSW Government to redevelop and refurbish Palliative Care Units across the state.

The community has a chance to provide input into the planning and design of an expanded Palliative Care service at Orange Health Service.

Feedback from the community will help shape the design to ensure the expansion can support more people requiring palliative care or end-of-life care.

The new unit at Orange, which is currently at the concept design stage, will provide high quality end-of-life care for people living in the Central West.

Construction of the additional dedicated palliative care beds and support spaces will commence in 2024 following further design and consultation process with staff, patients and the community.
