By joining our Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol Lived Experience Register you will be informed of opportunities to partner with mental health, drug and alcohol services on various projects.

Lived Experience Register

The Lived Experience Register is a way for people with lived experience to be notified of opportunities to provide feedback, ideas and recommendations for improving mental health, drug and alcohol services in Western NSW.

People on the Register include consumers, carers, family members, advocates and friends supporting someone with lived experience in mental health, drug or alcohol.

Activities people have been involved in the past include:

  • being part of a team co-creating an educational resource for staff in Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol Services. It was developed to help staff understand people’s experience of accessing mental health, drug and alcohol services. The lived experiences provided invaluable insights into the challenges faced seeking support, and navigating the complexities of mental health and addiction. The video is now included as an important part of the staff orientation program.
  • co-designing an Information Guide for Families and Carers. The guide has become a much used resource for carers of people living with a mental illness or a drug and alcohol dependence.

There are many other projects you could be involved in. Register your interest today to receive information on opportunities from designing waiting spaces, and creating models of care, to developing information resources for consumers and their families.
