About the service

Western NSW Local Health District is planning a new service for children. It will provide mental health and wellbeing support to children up the age of 12 and their families. The service aims to:

  • provide early intervention support to improve children's mental health and wellbeing
  • provide short to medium-term treatment for emotional, behavioural and/or developmental issues
  • support families to access services
  • work with other service providers including health, education, social services and the community.

The new service will be called Head to Health Kids and will operate in Orange and Bathurst. We are currently in the consultation, design and establishment phase.

We invite you to complete a Head to Health Kids Survey to help us design Head to Health Kids to best meet the needs of local children and their families.

Who should complete the survey?

This survey is for people with experience of children aged 0 - 12 including:

  • parents, carers and families
  • people who have current or past experience caring for a child with mild to moderate mental health or wellbeing issues
  • young persons with current or past experience accessing support for mild to moderate mental health or wellbeing issues
  • providers of health, social, justice or disability services including staff of Western NSW Local Health District
  • education providers
  • government agencies
  • non-government organisations
  • Aboriginal organisations
  • ethnic specific groups and organisations
  • members of the LGBTIQ+ community

What we want to know

We are seeking your feedback to help us design Head to Health Kids to best meet the needs of local children and their families. The survey will ask you questions on:

  • your experience finding, accessing or providing services for children aged 0-12 who have mild to moderate mental health and wellbeing issues.
  • services that could be included in Head to Health Kids.
  • how you would like services to be delivered at Head to Health Kids.

You can tell us what services currently work well and share ideas on what we should consider in designing Head to Health Kids.

You are welcome to complete all or some of the survey questions. Any questions that aren't relevant you can leave blank. We value any feedback you can provide.

The survey should take 15 minutes to complete.
