Project updates
About the project
Slips, trips and falls can happen to anyone, but we are at a higher risk of falling and injuring ourselves as we get older. In NSW, falls are an ongoing problem with over 26,000 falls attended to by NSW Ambulance each year.
Falls can cause serious injuries that may need hospital care and can have long term effects on general health and wellbeing.
In August 2024, the Health Promotion Team sought ideas from community members and health professionals on information to include in a Falls Education Pack, to help reduce the risk of falling.
Thank you to everyone who shared their ideas on information to be included in the Falls Education pack.
Seeking your feedback on the draft Falls Education Pack
Using the ideas shared last year, an education pack has been created, and we are seeking your feedback on the pack during the month of April.
This coincides with April Falls Month, an initiative through the Clinical Excellence Commission and NSW Fall Prevention and Healthy Ageing Network.
View the draft education pack here.
The survey closes Friday 25th April 2025
Developing the Falls Education Pack
If you have had a fall or know someone who has, we are seeking your ideas on information to include in a Falls Education Pack to help reduce the risk of falling.
The Education Pack will be given to older adults in the community who have had a fall or are at risk of falling, and their family members and carers. It will include information on a range of topics to help reduce the risk of future falls, accessing local services and fall prevention programs.
