Aboriginal Arts and Signage Project
Western NSW Local Health District invites you to collaborate with Bourke Multipurpose Service to build a culturally engaging space for Aboriginal patients, their families and the community.
By designing the Bourke Aboriginal Arts and Signage we aim to make people feel welcome and to increase Aboriginal people and community’s engagement with the health service.
Aboriginal Community Stakeholder Expression of Interest
Aboriginal community members are invited to join the working party for the Bourke Aboriginal Arts and Signage project.
You will work closely with the Bourke Multipurpose Service to
- identify a message or story important to the Aboriginal people of Bourke
- translate local Aboriginal language to develop unique signage that pays respect to the Aboriginal people of Bourke.
The second stage of the project is to engage a local artist.
Working party members will work with the artist to translate the messages and stories into an artwork.
The artwork will be displayed at the Bourke Multipurpose Service and used in signs throughout the hospital.
How do I join the working party?
Expressions of interest are invited from community members who
- identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
- are willing to work in partnership to create culturally engaging spaces
- are passionate about increasing visibility of Aboriginal artwork and language
For more information on joining the working party or questions about the Bourke Aboriginal Arts and Signage Project contact Sonya or Daniel.
